Consulting
The practice the product came from
Solden started as consulting work for real estate and investment firms, and that practice is still running. The product exists because the same problems kept turning up in every engagement.
Most of what we were asked to build came down to the same shape: the documents arrive, someone turns them into numbers by hand, and the numbers end up in a workbook that becomes load-bearing without anyone deciding it should be. That is worth solving with a product. It is also worth solving directly, for firms whose situation is particular enough that a product would be the wrong answer.
If your problem is bigger, stranger, or more urgent than software, this is the door.
What we get asked for
- Reporting that someone else has to be able to run
- Replacing the workbook only one person understands with something documented, tested and handed over. Usually the highest-value thing a small team can buy.
- Getting data out of systems that do not want to give it up
- Property management platforms, fund administrators, bank feeds and accounting systems, reconciled into one place on a schedule.
- Entity and ownership structures as data
- Modelling a real structure — tiered ownership, effective dates, intercompany positions — so consolidated numbers are derived rather than maintained.
- Diligence and remediation on an existing stack
- An honest read on what you have, what is load-bearing, what is fragile, and what it would take to fix. Sometimes the answer is that you should keep it.
How engagements start
A conversation, then a short paid discovery with a written outcome you own whether or not you continue. We would rather tell you the work is not worth doing than sell you a project that will not pay for itself.
